Nah. I’m genderfluid and you will never catch me using the genderfluid flag for fuckall because I think it is goddamn hideous. Same re the polyamory flag, and a couple of others. I mean, honestly, who thought “let’s make bold red, blue and yellow touch each other, there’s no way that’ll be a clashy disaster…”

Sometimes, shit is ugly. Sometimes, it hurts your sensory sensitivities. Sometimes it just makes your skin look washed out or sallow or ashy. 

You’re not obligated to like everything your community does.

That’s a really weird, sort of nationalistic belief, tbh.

Nationalism isn’t the right word for that, but I haven’t had any coffee yet and googling “the parent force behind nationalism” isn’t really turning up anything for me. Identitarianism, possibly. 

Anyway, you’re never under any obligation to like the aesthetics of something just because people tell you that you are.

You might want to respect the aesthetics of a group you don’t belong to, but like, if you’re criticizing your own people, and your criticism is genuinely based on aesthetics and not underlying hatred for your identity, then like, what the fuck ever. Go wild.

And don’t hesitate to make your own flags and use them. No one can stop you, and no one should really try.
