Hi! Most people know me as Vinn or Heather, and I have a very ridiculous cat named Socks. He likes being in the sink, trying to steal food off of my plate, car rides, and strings. He’s a handful, a little terror, a walking disaster, and I love him more than I can possibly say. He is also, right now, very sick due to having a blockage that has his bladder swollen to the size of my fist.

(Socks, being very good despite being scared at the vet)

After six months of struggling without having work, I’m finally employed again and have been trying desperately to catch up on my bills and get back on track with life. Unfortunately, life didn’t seem to get the memo. I had bronchitis that put me out of work for nearly a week, a thousand small emergencies, unexpected bills, and basically everything that could go wrong went wrong in May and June. And now Socks is sick and I have all of $120 to my name. I thought that this was a UTI, which $120 would have covered easily but oh boy, it was not.  There are stones in his bladder that have to come out, immediately. Otherwise it could be a slow and painful eventual death. This wasn’t really an option.

(The estimate worked up for me)

The amount I was quoted at roughly was 589.68, and I was told that was a low estimate of potential costs. In reality, it’s probably going to cost anywhere between $600-$650, or possibly more, and after this Socks will need special food for a while. I fully intend to ask family to help as well, but I don’t know if they’ll have money- we aren’t exactly rolling in cash. Payment is due at time of pick up, which is the 18th of June, 2018 (06/18/2018). It’s an incredibly short time frame, and they won’t give me any sort of payment plan. It has to be up front.

(I know. Believe me, I like that information even less than you do.)

I love my little guy. He’s a terror, loud, destructive, and endlessly exhausting to chase around but my life is so much better and happier with him in it. He’s been a delight in my life while I’ve struggled this year with grief and unemployment, and I desperately want him home and happy.  I’ve asked so much and been given so much, and I hate that I still need to ask more. But the kindness of strangers has sustained me and given me so much hope. Even if you just read this and can’t donate, thank you. My commission info can also be found here.  Here’s a cute picture of this little demon of mine to help your day.
